At the end of Chocolate Shake yesterday I mentioned my 3-Ingredient Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Shake.
I’m giving you the recipe today, but also I need to tell you a little about “work.” I always do “work” like this because rarely does it ever feel like work to me. Instead, just purely a hobby. It took a long time to arrive here, but this work is for life. I know it.
On Sunday, I referred to my work some, sharing that no one really knows what I do, but I boiled it down to Content Producer and then Marketing so that, at the very least, my mom wouldn’t have to tell people that she thinks I work, but still isn’t sure. 🙂
Anyways, what I do in my full-time career is focused 100% in the natural food industry. There is an entire story about how I went from the 3-piece suit at News Corporation to where I’m at today, but I’ll save it for another day.
It was April of 2014 when I essentially landed here. I got in, working remotely, doing basic things in the social space at Nutiva. One thing lead to another (again – I’m happy to share the whole story someday for those who might find it interesting?!), and before I knew it, almost 4 years had passed and I’m in a position working with several natural food companies every single day and loving it like crazy.
Naturally, my background in traditional marketing then digital and social marketing combined with further education via the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and ADAPT was conducive to contributing to the natural food industry in many different ways.
And today, that’s exactly what I do. I contribute to the natural food industry in many different ways. Each client is different, and everyone has different needs. When I am vetting a new client, I decide if what they need matches three things:
- my passions
- professional background – things I’ve done in the past
- current skillset and interest for personal and career growth in any way, shape, or form
I have a set of 4 core clients, and then multiple other clients that I help on a project-basis here and there.
Office Studio Space
Which leads me to the part on change and where I’m at today.
While living in California, I worked 100% from home, and sometimes, I’d go on site to where 2 of the core clients were headquartered. Our house in California was suitable for an office space but also allowed me to make and photograph recipes and product. And while I’ve never complained a day in my life about the ability to work 100% from home, I began yearning for my own office studio space.
But in California, the timing was not right because I had not reached client max capacity and renting anything there would have cost a small fortune (like probably a second mortgage).
Now that we are back home, the possibility for office studio space is much greater. Nothing about my work has changed except for both of the things which prohibited me from getting office studio space in California are no longer complete roadblocks.
So today, and last week, and every single day until I find it…..I am officially looking for office studio space – a working environment away from the home where I’m able to have a better balance of “work” time then “home” time because it’s something I have not had for years.
Once I find it, I will share all about it with you!

For a little background, Elmhurst1925 is my newest client. They sought me out in late November, and in December, I went to their offices in New York to decide if I wanted to take them on. I loved the company, product, and people from the beginning, and in late December, accepted a role with them as Senior Creative Advisor.
The company is doing some incredible things, and for all my Gutsy friends or for those who simply choose to live a dairy-free life, this company is going to be your jam! Their nut milks are second to none, and it’s worth noting (especially for my Gutsy friends) that their products (unlike most nut milks) contain no carrageenan (which I’ve written about HERE) or gums to thicken the product. Instead, the product is thickened with the nuts (or rice or oats – depending on the milk) themselves which is very clear from the first sip (and even if you read the nutritional profile).

- 1.5 cups Elmhurst Milked Peanuts with Chocolate™
- 1.5 cups frozen banana
- 2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter
- Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend until completely mixed together.
- Serve as-is or drizzle with creamy peanut butter and top with dairy-free chocolate chips and sliced banana.
