Chocolate Protein Super Smoothie

It has been so long since I’ve done a Giddy Up Gluten Free feature, and I’m stoked to share this one with you today.

I made this video a few weeks back, so as full disclosure I am not currently drinking it because I’m so strict with my “detox” right now that I can’t even afford to have something as simple as that awesome chocolate protein powder mess with my system.

I have been doing a lot of research on the best pre-, during and post-workout fueling. I’m not just talking about protein-ified drinks, but any and all drinks to make me optimal.

So after checking out the video, let me know: What are your optimal pre-, during and post-workout drinks?

Alcohol: Is Your Happy Hour Making You Fat?

During my 21 Days: Reduce, Relax, Rejuvenate, I am consuming no alcohol. For the most part, I don’t drink very often in general. When I do, I always stick to fairly bland and always gluten-free drinks. I enjoy drinking every now and then, but between my colitis and small desire for it, rarely do I drink.

Recently, while I was perusing the Internet, I came across a great Infograhic called, “Is Happy Hour making me fat?” In addition to the colitis and small desire, I also realize that alcohol contains a ton of empty calories. I’m not sure about you, but I would rather “spend” my calories on real food rather than drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

Check out the Infographic below. Thoughts?

Do you drink?

If/when you drink, how much do you drink?

(Side Note: Despite all this, I am still a normal girl who loves her wine and alcohol from time-to-time. And really….there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just like, food and life….everything in moderation!)

Whole Living Smoothies App

It’s summer, so naturally I have been talking a lot about “cool” drinks and treats! Today, I have a new app to share with you, in case you don’t already have it: Whole Living Smoothies App.

Here is a little bit about it:

The app is organized into 5 themed bundles, each containing 12 smoothie recipes.

The first 3 bundles: Essential, Meal-in-a-Glass, and Allergen-Free are $1.99. Beyond that you can also purchase Weight Loss and Detox for $0.99 (each through in-app purchase).

Each recipe has complete nutritional information, and the roulette-style search wheel lets you search by main ingredient and type of smoothie. You can also share favorite recipes via Facebook and e-mail.

I like this app because it instantly gives ideas for any type of smoothie you might be in the mood for. Of course, you can change it up if you need to! For example, I would probably add in my Brown Rice Protein Powder to many of these!

Here is an awesome recipe from the app. It’s gluten free, fiber rich, unsweetened and vegan. Feel free to try it out!
