I have been contacted several times a week lately with requests to buy “ad space” on my blog….side bar, in posts, wherever.
The only “ad” I currently have on my blog is for GaiamTV. This is because not only do they rock, but there is a whole Gutsy Collection I created for you and specific videos and workouts for The Gutsy Girl’s Bible.
Beyond that, nothing….zero, zilch. I intend to keep it this way forever. I’m not interested in being anything I’m not with a stamp of approval from big food companies and brands in general.
A Gutsy Girl is for you and for me and for…..(well, I can’t tell you this yet, but I will just as soon as I’m able to tell one last friend, in person).
Besides, if I really wanted to give space to a product, shouldn’t it naturally be a loving spoon nut butters?
So just for fun, I started thinking about various products and companies I’d love to tell you about – things that I love and that I love just for fun.
I’m not paid (or even given product) by any of the following, but I’m excited to share them with you on this awesome Friday!
This is my friend, Nicole. Her story is amazing. She has been through a lot this past year (including a major accident and other smaller accidents), but still in September she will tackle the Ironman Lake Tahoe. This week she posted the following on her Facebook page:
I’m looking for 50 inspiring individuals to join “Mission #Kokua“, your challenge:
(1) Support the preservation of the Lake Tahoe trail system.
(2) Race in spirit with me at Ironman Lake Tahoe!
How you ask: just buy any pair of Lunatik Athletiks compression socks (http://www.lunatikathletiks.com/), enter “IronNik” in the coupon code field and 50% of your purchase will be donated to the Lake Tahoe Rim Trail Association. Then rock your socks with me as I race to finish my first Ironman on September 22nd!
I’m getting a pair, today and I’d love for you to join me!
There was a time in my life when I was fortunate enough to work with Nike. Does anyone remember in 2009 when I was the “Pied Pipers” team lead for the Nike Human Race? Ah…those were the days. I digress. Heather Alvey was the head of that totally awesome program.
I recently learned that she started run molly run, which is a site where you can make custom jewelry as it pertains to: running, cycling, triathlon and walking. You can build your own or use a custom one. And they are gorgeous!
I won’t even ask my husband, after the Nike Women’s Marathon this October (likely my last ever) I’m getting one – for sure – to capture all those memories.
I’m as good at “style” as my Great Dane is at focusing on anything longer than 5 seconds (unless it’s Fiona, the Peekepoo).
So when my friend Hilary (aka Hils to me) told me she launched this business, I was kind of like, “meh…ok.”
But then we fermented veggies together, and I learned all about it. Blown away! We had coffee last week, I went to her office/warehouse and wow – she has built herself something super amazing.
The kicker? I wanted to buy everything there. She has it all – apparel, jewelry, scarves, accessories and more. Bonus: nothing will break the bank, even for an entrepreneur
I’m eyeing this outfit, which seems totally outrageous for me, but I think it might work.
Somehow, these “just for fun” things remind me that sharing great stories, products, companies and brands doesn’t have to be some big production.
There doesn’t need to be “ad space.”
We don’t need to be paid.
Great things simply inspire the passion to share.
With that, I’m off to
shop drink coffee work.
Love your guts,
