Yesterday I talked about Consistency, not Immediacy. Today I’m saying:

I mentioned that immediacy is the reason relationships fail, diets fail, health fails, businesses fail and general satisfaction fails. No one has the patience anymore to remain consistent, true to what they ultimately want and loyal to an end result.
In order to stay consistent, you need to also remain realistic. This is the part we forget. Once forgotten, we fall into the vicious “immediate” cycle. So here are some realistic ways to consistency:
- WHAT will your life allow? You can’t give the answer that you “have no time.” You do! But realistically, 5-6 days per week, how much time can you devote? Now schedule it in your planner.
- DON’T tell yourself grilled chicken, protein shakes and vegetables for every meal, 6 x’s a day, if you travel frequently, are not physically able to or simply don’t want to. But what can you do? Implement it.
- HOW can you make anything consistent in your life? Fads and being in “overdrive” will only lead to burnout. Make your changes slowly and gradually. For example, you want to give up soda so you cut cold turkey. 5 days later you find yourself binging on the liquid. You know this about yourself. So be realistic instead. If you currently have 3 cans per day, try knocking it to one….and then 4/week…..2/week…..1/week. Done.
- WHY do you want to improve or make a change? If the answer is purely superficial, it’s probably not realistic.
What is your way to realistic?
